From Online Dating To Real-Life
Posted by Angel

One frequent question among people trying out online dating for the first time is when to take the relationship away from the internet and into their real lives.  From what we’ve seen and experienced, you wanna do it as soon as possible.

Exchanging messages online does have its perks.  It’s fun and you can end up doing it for weeks on end. Problem happens when you do go on a date and you find out there’s no spark, no connection, and no attraction whatsoever.  You just invested a significant portion of time for something that doesn’t lead anywhere.  After doing that over several months, all for naught, you begin to understand why many online daters end up abandoning the scene.

Safety Rules

The only sensible reason you may want to hold yourself back from taking it offline quickly is safety.  Predators do lurk among the many honest and genuine singles out there.  As such, you need to feel at least a minimum of level of security before exposing yourself to someone you’ve only recently met.  There are resources out there that list known online dating predators, from married men who pretend to be single to criminally dangerous individuals.

Additionally, quite a few dating sites require verification for members.  If a potential date triggers some red flags, confirm their status to see if they check out.

Get On The Phone

A good habit is to try and bring the conversation to a phone as soon as possible.  You can definitely learn more about someone from speaking to them and hearing their voice compared to exchanging messages electronically.

Importance Of Being Honest

Being honest and genuine in your online communication truly pays off once you bring it offline.  Fake photos and descriptions are easily construed and can cut the date short swiftly.

When you do go out with someone you met online, they were more than likely swayed into the decision by your online persona.  If this personality is radically different from who you are in real life then any attraction your date may have had will immediately go into question.  Worse, they can label you a poser and shun you permanently.

Keeping It Online

One of the worst things that can happen when you put off meeting someone offline is getting overly anxious for that first date.  Avoiding the uneasiness of the prospect of a face-to-face meeting, some daters get hooked into the online habit and avoid taking their romantic interactions into real-life.

If you find yourself falling into that trap, realize that it’s time to get out of it before you’re in too deep.  Take the interaction offline and truly reap the complete benefits that online dating has to offer.
